If you’re autistic or an ADHDer and executive functioning challenges, emotional regulation, or burnout and are experiencing barriers that are impacting your capacity at work you may be eligible for funded coaching support through the Australian Government’s Employment Assistance Fund (EAF).
The EAF was created to assist disabled Australians, including ADHD and autistic individuals, by providing practical supports aiming to reduce workplace barriers. If eligible, you may receive up to $1,642 in government-funded Autism or ADHD coaching (as of June 2025).
Who Can Apply
You may be eligible for the Employment Assistance Fund if you are:
·An employee, self-employed person, or job seeker with disability
·Working (or have been offered work) at least 8 hours per week in a role expected to last 13 weeks or more
·An Australian resident (citizen, permanent resident, or eligible visa holder)
·Able to provide supporting documentation, such as a diagnosis report, GP letter, or medical certificate
You do not need to be on the NDIS to apply.
✅ What the EAF Can Cover
The EAF can fund a range of workplace modifications and services for eligible disabled individuals. This includes:
• Workplace modifications and equipment, such as assistive technology and communication devices
• Auslan interpreting services
• Workplace assistance and support services, including:
- Training or technical support to help a person with disability learn to use modifications and equipment
- Disability and deafness awareness training in workplaces that employ someone with disability
- Specialised support and training for people with learning disabilities
*Support must be directly related to your ability to carry out your job tasks.*
How to Apply
The EAF application process is straightforward:
-
Register online and link your MyGov ID to JobAccess.
-
Start an application under “Specialist Mental Health Support” and outline your workplace challenges and needed support.
-
Upload supporting documents examples:
-
Diagnosis confirmation
-
Residency status (if not a citizen)
-
Self-employed: job description and earnings summary.
-
-
Inform your employer, as they must complete a Proof of Employment form. Contact EAF for possible exemptions.
-
They will review your application and may arrange a free workplace assessment.
